“It Ain’t No Use”

Dear Trump voter,

You wanted it. You’ve got it.

All of it.

You wanted to take back control of the United States. You wanted to return the nation to the way it used to be.

You vowed to “make America great again.”

Well, starting at noon Friday, what happens to this nation is your responsibility. You own the dumpster fire this country is about to become because you violated everything the United States stands for, namely hope and optimism.

You succumbed to the worst stereotypes and refused to move past your fears.

And, as a result, you handed over control of Earth’s mightiest nation to Donald J. Trump, a misogynistic, racist sociopath who has lied and cheated people who trusted him with their money and their education over the entirety of his miserable adult life.

Yes, a man who was caught on tape bragging about sexually assaulting women and getting away with it because of his celebrity, a man,  who, on the first day of his candidacy, called Mexicans rapists and criminals, a man who pledged to toss Muslims out of the United States simply for being Muslims, a man so thin-skinned that his campaign had to take away his access to his Twitter account in the closing days of the campaign, now has access to launch codes to nuclear weapons.

And in the period since the election, your guy has done next to nothing to inspire confidence among anyone other than his most loyal sycophants that he has any interest in doing the world’s most important job, much less that he can do it.

He has lined his Cabinet with people like him, people who have no experience in government, but lots of knowledge of how to make money. His nominees for Energy, Housing and Urban Development and Education have no clue about what their job entails. His Health and Human Services nominee allegedly used his knowledge as a member of the House to buy stocks to fleece his wallet. His nominee for Attorney General has no interest in enforcing civil rights law. And his nominee for Secretary of State can’t see Russia from his house, but only because he’s so far in Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s pocket.

As he takes office, the overwhelming majority of slots needed to fill the national security apparatus are not only unfilled, but there aren’t even nominees to be confirmed.

Finally, as he is sworn in, there’s pretty good reason to believe that the 45th President of the United States may already be in line to be impeached and later tossed out of office.

This is yours, dear Trump voter. You asked for it. You wanted this.

Own it. Embrace it.

It’s all yours.
