Welcome aboard!

Greetings and welcome to the Sports@Large blog!

You may have been to other sites of mine before, but I promise this one will be different.

How, you ask? Well, for starters, it’s a Word Press site, which likely means little to many, but, for me, it means a cleaner, more uniform look, which, hopefully, will yield more traffic.

And there will be more posts. I can’t promise that there will be hourly or even daily postings, but I do plan to make it worth your while to come here once and check back. You might not ever agree with anything I say, but I hope I’ll have something to say that makes coming here valuable. After all, time is the most important commodity we have. I don’t intend to waste it.

I haven’t exactly planned what I’m going to say or even how this will look in the long term. I can pledge to you that we will hit popular culture, politics, religion and journalism — its present and its future.

Oh, yeah, and sports. Obviously, anything with a title like this will have to have hit sports and we’ll do that a lot. The title is an offshoot of a commentary that I do each week for the local NPR affiliate in my hometown of Baltimore. If you happen to be in Charm City on some Monday afternoon, say between 4:45 and 5:50 (the times get moved around a bit), give it a listen at WYPR (88.1 FM). If not, you can listen here.

Just so you know, I love basketball and baseball. I like football, but I think it’s been forced down our throats to the point where I’m really not that interested beyond my local team(s). I covered the NBA, the WNBA and women’s basketball for most of my time as an active sportswriter, so if those areas don’t interest you, you’re cordially welcome to find another blog.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the games!
